To some, it may have been a normal Friday; but for the students and staff at Live Oak High School and thirty-three other schools in the region, March 6th, 2026 was what most would call the “Best Day Ever”! Special Olympics is an event that celebrates achievement, encouragement, perseverance, and sportsmanship; bringing people from the community together for this unforgettable experience to make each and every athlete with exceptionalities shine by using their individual abilities.
The start of the event had its traditional recitation of the Special Olympics Oath spoken by Live Oak High School student Jada McLin. Afterwards, Live Oak High School student Neveah Curtis prayed over the athletes, volunteers, and staff members. Lastly, the Pledge of Allegiance was proudly declared by Live Oak High School student Reese St Romaine, having a passion that would put American pride into anyone who could have heard it that morning. Many of the 300 some athletes received medals for their achievement and participation.
