There are places in the Antique Village that feel less like stores and more like chapters of Denham Springs’ living history. Benton Brothers Antiques is one of them. Standing beneath its tall stucco archway on a brisk January afternoon, you can’t help but feel that familiar wave of nostalgia, the kind that seems stitched into every brick of Railroad Avenue.
Walk through the front doors—beautifully framed in oversized holiday garland and glittering ornaments—and Benton Brothers opens up like a small world of its own. It’s the kind of antique shop that invites you to slow down, browse, wander, and let yourself get lost. Under the soft glow of Christmas lights, aisles stretch out in every direction, filled with booths that each tell a story entirely their own.
Near the entrance, a towering Christmas tree stands dressed head to toe in gold, copper, champagne, and blush tones. Delicate snowflakes, gilded leaves, shimmering ribbons, and vintage ornaments catch the light, turning the whole display into something almost theatrical. It’s the kind of tree that makes you stop and stare before taking another step.
From there, Benton Brothers becomes an endless treasure map. The front rooms brim with glassware, old rocking chairs, crocheted throws, classic lamps, framed art, and intricately curated holiday décor. Sunlight streams through the tall angled windows, falling across Depression glass in shades of turquoise, emerald, and amber. It’s a collector’s dream, but also a comforting reminder of the South’s love for heirlooms.
Venture deeper and the atmosphere shifts. The building opens into a sprawling warehouse-style market with high foam-insulated ceilings and rows upon rows of vendor booths. One aisle glows with stained glass sun catchers from a local artisan. Another is packed with toy collectibles, books, and retro games—nostalgia for children and parents alike. Turn a corner and you’re met with antique tools, rustic farm equipment, and the kind of relics that feel pulled straight from old Southern barns.
The beauty of Benton Brothers is that it refuses to be just one thing. It’s elegant in the front, whimsical in the middle, rugged in the back, and sentimental everywhere. Every booth feels like a tiny museum curated by someone who loves the item’s past just as much as the person who will carry it into the future.
And walking through it with my mom today was a reminder of why the Antique Village is so cherished. Shops like Benton Brothers aren’t just businesses—they’re anchors. They’re places that hold the stories of the people who’ve lived here, visited here, and built their traditions here year after year.
Before the flood, Benton Brothers held one of my favorite treasures in the entire Antique Village: a vintage glass Coca-Cola machine that actually worked. My friends and I would stop in just for the thrill of dropping in a couple of coins and pulling out a cold glass bottle, the way people did decades before us. It was simple, nostalgic, and felt like stepping back in time every single visit. That memory stayed with me, especially as the shop weathered not one but two major blows — the 2016 flood that devastated so much of Denham Springs, and a fire more recently that forced them to rebuild once again. And yet, here they are. Standing, thriving, and preserving the magic that made so many of us fall in love with the Village in the first place.
As the Village prepares for the lighting of Old City Hall and the holiday season truly begins, Benton Brothers stands as one of the brightest stops. A place to find gifts, heirlooms, vintage surprises, and stories waiting to be rediscovered.
If you haven’t wandered through recently, there’s no better time. The magic is already up on display.
