Letter from the Editor

Hello, Livingston.

My name is Elizabeth Baudoin, and on January 1st, Living In Parish Magazine officially launches its very first issue—Hello, Livingston.

This issue is not just an introduction to a magazine. It is an introduction to a mission: to tell the stories of Livingston Parish with intention, integrity, and a deep respect for the people who make this place what it is. Alongside highlighting familiar faces and important personalities throughout the parish, this first issue begins with something foundational—a Letter from the Editor—so you know exactly who is behind these pages and why this publication exists.

I am a fourth-generation media professional in Livingston Parish. Storytelling, publishing, and community coverage are not new concepts to me—they are part of my upbringing. I grew up watching how words, timing, and trust could shape a community, and how media, when done correctly, can uplift people rather than exploit them. That legacy is something I carry seriously and proudly into this work.

Before marketing ever became a job title, it was a skill I learned on the floor of local restaurants. I began working the day I turned 16, and anyone who has spent time in the service industry understands what that teaches you—how to read people, how to sell without selling, how to communicate clearly, and how to understand what people actually respond to. I know how to sell a ribeye, and more importantly, I know why someone orders it. That understanding is the backbone of effective marketing.

My professional background is rooted in marketing, sales, and writing. While my business degree is still in progress, writing has always been my strongest suit—something I have consistently excelled in throughout my life, likely thanks to a family that values clear storytelling and strong journalism. I graduated from Denham Springs High School in 2022, where I spent four years in JROTC and graduated as the Executive Officer of my battalion. I was also involved in Anchor Club and several other school organizations that emphasized leadership, accountability, and service.

Today, I am actively involved in Denham Springs Main Street, working closely with local businesses, city partners, and community organizations to promote growth, events, and visibility throughout the parish. Living In Parish Magazine is an extension of that same work—just on a larger, more intentional platform.

Hello, Livingston is about introductions—introducing this magazine, introducing voices that deserve to be heard, and setting the tone for what is to come. This publication exists to spotlight the people, places, and stories that make Livingston Parish more than just a dot on a map.
This is only the beginning. And I am honored to be the one telling these stories.
