Tucked in the heart of Denham Springs, The Aspen Room has officially opened its doors, welcoming guests into a space that feels both elevated and deeply personal. Following its recent ribbon cutting with the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce, the venue is already turning heads, offering something the community has quietly been ready for.
But behind the soft color palette, layered textures, and carefully curated details is a story that did not begin with a blueprint. It began with a feeling.
“I had no inspiration at first,” Jocelyn O’Neal said, laughing. “Honestly, none. I just knew I wanted something more refined, more upscale. I like to use the word swanky.”
That vision, though undefined in the beginning, quickly took shape through instinct and handson creativity. Rather than sourcing everything new or following a strict design plan, Jocelyn built the space piece by piece, trusting her eye and her experience.
“If you look at it, none of the pieces really go together on their own,” she said. “It’s just what I felt at the moment. But when it all comes together, it works.”
And it does.
The Aspen Room feels intentional without being overdesigned. Elegant, but not intimidating. A space where guests can walk in and immediately feel both impressed and at ease.
“I wanted something that felt beautiful, but still comfortable,” she said. “Somewhere people can actually enjoy themselves.”
Named after Aspen Square Drive, where the building sits, The Aspen Room was created to stand entirely on its own. While many know Jocelyn through her years in the restaurant industry, this venture was intentionally designed as something separate. A new identity. A new creative outlet.
“I wanted a brand that stood on its own,” she said. “Not tied to anything else. Just its own space.”
The idea itself came from close to home. Her daughter, Brooklyn O’Neal, now the venue’s Event Coordinator, was the one who first saw the opportunity in the space.
“She told me, ‘Look at all the parties we’re having to move around. This could be something,’” Jocelyn said. “And she was right.”
From there, everything moved quickly. In a matter of weeks, the space was completely transformed. What once served a very different purpose is now a refined, fullservice event venue designed to host life’s most meaningful moments.
“We spray painted chandeliers, refinished tables, thrifted pieces,” Jocelyn said. “We put so much of ourselves into that room.”
That “we” extends beyond just mother and daughter. Jocelyn credits Brooklyn and close friend Britney Burkell as key parts of bringing the vision to life.
“I could not have done this without them,” she said. “Brooklyn handled so much of the technical side, and Britney helped make my vision come to life. We just think the same way.”
That collaboration is reflected not only in the design, but in the experience itself.
The Aspen Room is built to be fully customizable, accommodating everything from bridal and baby showers to wedding receptions, corporate gatherings, and milestone celebrations. With a capacity designed to comfortably host up to 125 guests, the space offers flexibility without sacrificing intimacy.
“I want it to be something for everyone,” Jocelyn said. “Whatever you need, we’re going to make it happen.”
What sets The Aspen Room apart, however, is not just the space. It is the service behind it.
From the moment a client books, the goal is simple. Make it seamless.
“It’s a one stop shop,” Jocelyn said. “I don’t want people stressing over ten different vendors. I want them to come in, tell us what they want, and we take care of the rest.”
That includes event coordination, setup and cleanup, staffing, bar service, and thoughtfully designed features throughout the space. Guests have access to elements such as a photo wall, wooden arch, designated focal seating, and curated décor pieces that elevate the overall experience.
Behind the scenes, Brooklyn works directly with clients to ensure every detail is executed with care, creating an experience that feels both organized and personal.
“I want people to actually enjoy their event,” Jocelyn said. “Not spend the whole time worrying about it.”
The culinary side of The Aspen Room is just as intentional. Offering a menu entirely its own, the venue brings together a mix of Southern staples and elevated eventstyle offerings. From shrimp and smoked gouda grits to crawfish étouffée, curated appetizers, and thoughtfully built selections, each menu is designed to complement the occasion.
“There’s going to be things here you can’t get anywhere else,” Jocelyn said. “I’m excited to start writing recipes again.”
That excitement is evident in every detail of the space.
“This is like having another baby,” she said. “I’m just so proud of it.”
And it shows.
Since opening, The Aspen Room has already begun to build momentum, drawing attention not only for its aesthetic, but for the experience it offers.
“I’ve had people walk in and just stop,” Jocelyn said. “You can see it. They get it.”
For Denham Springs, The Aspen Room fills a space that has long been missing. A venue that feels elevated, but still local. Refined, but still welcoming.
For Jocelyn, it is something even more.
A reflection of her creativity. Her experience. And her commitment to creating a place where life’s biggest moments can be celebrated exactly as they should be.
